Is your baby a healthy baby? How could you know that? Simple way to know that your baby is healthy is to by find out the gestational time of the baby. The new born infant child at term should between 38 -42 weeks. The weight of the baby should be normal , the normal weight of the baby is depend upon the race and ratio of the baby, the normal weight of the Asian baby is between 2.9- 3.9, and cries immediately after birth. Establish independent rhythmic respiration, which is 110-160 beats /minute, quickly adopt with the extra uterine environment with no congenital abnormalities.

What are the physical characteristics of the healthy new born or how the baby appearance should be after birth?

The appearance should be note by the following physical characteristics

Weight the average weight of the full term new born infant is about 2.9 kg.with the variation of 2.9-3.9 kg.

Length the average length of the new born baby is 50 cm with range of 48-53 cm.

Head circumference usually various from 33-37 cm with the average of 35 cm.

Chest circumference is about 3 cm less than the head circumference. The average is 32 cm.

Other characteristics of Newborn Baby.

The trunk is large and the extremities are short abdomen is prominent with short neck. The skin of the new born is pinkish but bluish hand feet may present for a short time after birth. The ear cartilage is firm and fully curved. And eyes are fully covered with eye lids. The scrotum show adequate rage with deep pigmentation and palpation of the testes. The labia majora cover the labia minora. Kidney, liver and spleen may be palpable. These all are the characteristics of the healthy new born.

What is the action of phenytoin sodium?

It suppresses the abnormal brain activities by reducing electrical conductance in brain cells and stabilizes voltage-gate sodium channels in seizures and trigeminal neuralgia.
